Slow drains throughout the house, sewage odor outside, and unusually green grass over the drain field are the three signs. The grass is often the earliest.

Standing water or soggy ground over the field means the system is failing to absorb. Pumping the tank does not fix a failed drain field. Oklahoma requires permits for septic system repairs, and DEQ regulates installation.
