A boil water notice means the system cannot currently guarantee the water is free of harmful organisms. Bring water to a rolling boil for one minute before drinking or cooking.

It also applies to ice, brushing teeth and washing produce. Notices are usually precautionary following a pressure loss or a main break rather than confirmed contamination. Of Oklahoma’s 847 active community water systems, 317 carry a violation or enforcement priority.
